Intra Gastric Ballon
Gastric balloon is a simple weight-loss process which involves inserting a balloon into the stomach of a patient that wishes to shed weight. It involves placement of balloon inside the stomach which makes you feel full even when you have eaten very little food. It is usually recommended in patients with BMI over 27. The process has been growing in popularity because of the simplicity of the procedure; the short recovery time; and also the inexpensive cost in comparison with more complicated procedures .
Why should you go for an balloon ?
Diet and Exercise are the best means to weight loss. However people who are unable to stick on to a diet and exercise regimen , often find the In tra-Gastric balloon to be useful.
- It is relatively a very safe procedure. There is no operation and it is an endoscopic procedure.
- It is reversible. The balloon is removed within 6 months to 1 year.
- Hospital stay is not necessary usually.
Home of Healing Surgical Centre is a specialised Obesity Management centre and we are one of the few centres in the country offering intra-gastric balloon to patients.
Bariatric Surgery/ Weight loss surgery is a highly effective way to lose weight which must only be considered in morbidly obese people after all other options such as diet and exercise have failed. It is usually only be performed in people with BMI greater that 40kg/m2 . Bariatric surgery is also known as metabolic surgery. Other than weight loss- it helps control:
- Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
People who have undergone bariatric surgery usually lose upto 30% to 50% of their weight in the first 6 months after surgery. There are different types of weight loss surgery. They often limit the amount of food you can take in. Some types of surgery also affect how you digest food and absorb nutrients Dr Rengan has a special interest in Obesity management through bariatric surgery. He is also conducting an ongoing research on INTRAGASTRIC BALLOONS for management of Obesity
The two most common types of Bariatric Surgery are :
- Sleeve Gastrectomy
- Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
Gastric bypass surgery makes the stomach smaller and causes food to bypass part of the small intestine. You will feel full more quickly than when your stomach was its original size. Surgery is almost always performed laparoscopically. Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass is considered to be better procedure surgically than Sleeve Gastrectomy. Complications can occur during surgery and in post-op period. Usually most of the complications are avoided by meticulous planning and precautions. A short hospital stay is usually necessary and constant care is required in the post op period. Nutritional support with Vitamins and other nutrients is often needed. Talk to Dr Rengan in detail to understand more about the risks and benefits associated with the surgery.
Liposuction is a simple procedure which involves sucking out the fat from defined areas of the body. The main purpose of liposuction is to reshape one or more areas of your body, not to reduce body weight. Liposuction is typically used on “problem” areas that have not responded well to diet and exercise. These areas are often on the outer thighs and hips on women and the waist and back on men. The face, neck, abdomen, back, buttocks, legs, and upper arms are all commonly treated areas. Liposuction is a simple procedure but requires efficient and experienced surgeons. Liposuction is sometimes used in combination with other cosmetic surgery procedures, such as a “tummy tuck” (abdominoplasty), breast reduction, or face-lift. Liposuction done by an experienced doctor in a properly equipped facility is usually safe. If you feel an extra bit of fat is protruding somewhere in your body despite all your efforts, it is time you visited Charvi Skin solutions.
